Risa Muramatsu Ray Profile

Risa is a dancer, choreographer and performing artist based in Tasmania/lutruwita, born in Japan.

She has been creating and performing for over 30 years both in Japan and Tasmania in a range of capacities, including in music videos for recording artists, at concerts, night clubs, art and music festivals, museums, dance performances and recitals.

She began learning classic and modern ballet at a young age. Later, while gaining working experience in Hip-Hop and Jazz, she majored in Contemporary Dance at University, broadening her understanding of the scope of possibilities for dance. Her dance seeks to be unique and avoid the trappings of genre. It might be characterised by a flexibility that allows for kaleidoscopic contrasts in posture and movement.
